Oxbow Brewery / XC Ski - Weekend Ventures

Oxbow Brewery is one of our favorite winter spots and we make it a point to get there a few times every winter. Located in Oxford, Maine, about 45 north of Portland, the brewery offers groomed XC ski/snowshoe trails and a great family-friendly atmosphere.

The trails: free to use with gear rentals available through the non-profit organization Portland Gear Hub. They are mostly flat which makes them excellent for all levels of skiers. In the middle of the trail system there is a hut which offers beer/drinks, hot cocoa and fires. We find this is a great spot for the kids to get out of the ski trailer and explore

Food: Oxbow offers wood fired pizza along with other food and delicious beer which can all be enjoyed outside in the beer garden or inside in the renovated barn restaurant (both are family friendly and causal).
